1Chronicles 16: 23- 43
Theme: Make Worship Systematic and Habitual.
Today’s instruction and reminder is for us to make worship systematic and Habitual. This is the lesson we are taking away from this week’s series of studies. God carefully selects these messages to draw our attention to certain areas of our christian lives we maybe neglecting.
Singing praise and worship is shown from the scriptures to be a very important part of the service God desires. Jesus said to the indignant Pharisees on his triumphal entry to Jerusalem if you stop these ones from praising me, even the stones will cry out ( Luke 19:40). Angels are known to be in continual worship of God through melodious music and unheard of instruments. The music they produce is so unique that the best music here on earth is usually considered angelic. According to the book of revelations this Is what eternity will have us do from age to age. Therefore it is wise that we imbibe this heavenly culture now and make it part and parcel of our daily christian experience. Worship and praise is to be regular, spontaneous and also systematic.
Individually we are to engage in outbursts of praise throughout the day, offering the sacrifice of our lips. Then when we gather together as the body of Christ those that God has endowed with the special ability to sing melodiously should take the lead. For They have received the special honour to invite the spirit of God and his presence into the worship arena. Hence just as Asaph, Obed Edom and the rest sixty eight were appointed to sing praise continually (v37) anyone who finds himself as a member of the choir must learn to carry his vessel well in a holy and acceptable manner for the important duty he’s received in the house of God. Moreso Zasok the priest and his fellows were left in the Tabernacle to present the morning and evening sacrifice regularly.
In other words as a born again believer you are a royal priesthood, a chosen generation and a peculiar person. You have been called out of darkness into God’s marvellous kingdom of light to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Christ Jesus; showing forth his praises continually. (1Pt 2:1-2)
Today our morning and evening sacrifice is not bull and sheep but rather our morning and evening prayers. This is to be regular and accompanied by melodious music. More importantly, Romans 12:1 enjoins us to present our bodies a living sacrifice holy and pleasing to God. This means that our moment by moment existence should be dedicated to God as an offering no matter what it is we may be doing at the moment.
Finally, Singing melodies, giving thanks and proclaiming the name of the lord all over the nations is a very important assignment we must do our best to consciously carry out on a daily basis. Keep this in mind next time you go to church and offer an acceptable sacrifice of praise. God bless you.
