Theme Be not presumptuous seek fresh guidance
This topic ‘be not presumptuous seek fresh Guidance is a very timely warning. Believers must avoid the temptation to run ahead of God’s directives. David gives a classical example in the reading of today. He has defeated Goliath; a Giant of the Philistines in the past. Yet after he is confirmed and established as king he wouldn’t go out to battle the Philistines without consulting God afresh.
A very important point to note is that he did not ask just once but again and again. No wonder Solomon advises in Proverbs 3:5-6
trust in the lord with all your heat and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your paths.
Without Jesus we can do nothing (John i5:5) if we abide in him and his word abide in us we shall bear feuits this is the only recipe for a victorious Christian life.
Many times believer s fall into diverse temptations because we fail to seek direction from GOD. We fight battles that could be avoided and embarked on missions that are not ours because of presumption.
God still speaks even today to those who draw near to him. Do not depend on the exploits of yesterday. Seek him afresh daily through prayers, supplications ans study, he will guide you evey step of the way.
