text Matthew 14 verse 22 to 26
Theme: Take courage it is I don’t be afraid
Take courage it is I don’t be afraid. This is a wonderful assurance that Jesus gives to his disciples and He is saying the same thing to all of us today. Jesus wants us to know that he is always present with us in every storm of life. In every situation that we might be facing as long as we’re in a relationship with him he is never going to leave us to face the storms of life alone. Therefore we need not fear. Our courage is not out of mere bravado but because he has given us assurance of his everlasting presence.
Peter’s impetuous nature always got him a spot and helps to teach us some lessons. He asked Jesus, ‘if it is really you then bid me come’ and Jesus said ‘come’. With his eyes on Jesus Peter walked out of the boat and walked on top of the sea. Unfortunately he let his eyes shift from Jesus to the surrounding storm, then he began to sink. The great lesson here is that with our eyes on Jesus, his word and promises; nothing shall be impossible to achieve. Moreover, Even though we might sink like Peter, if we cry out to Jesus he will stretch his hand and pulled us up. Jesus asked Peter, Why did you doubt? In other words, doubt is the only barrier to doing the impossible.
God can do all things but fail. Whatever he says In his word is constantly relevant and true in all situations. We operate below expectations as believers because we have trivialize God’s word. We do not put faith on it as we should. Rather we put more faith on ‘poweful’ men of God. Begin today to dig deeper into the scriptures. Find out his promises. Pray the scriptures more often. Spens longer hours at prayer. Pray more in the spirit to energize your spirit man. Above all keep your eyes on Jesus. Feed on him as your focus and starve other distractions. Then you will see impossibility becoming possible in your life.
