God knows all about me
The fact that God knows all about me should give me joy and a sense of belonging. It is such a comfort to know that God knows me so well. David has written down here, a most wonderful Psalm which articulates the omniscient and omnipresent nature of God. For surely, God is all knowing and everywhere present.
Vs1-2 are so wonderful to me. it says:
lord you have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You understand my thoughts afar off.
This is great! it is so comforting to know that God knows everything about us including our daily activities. Even the mundane things we do everyday are very clear to him. He understands all. From the moment we rise up from our beds till we return again to it; he takes note of everything we do. He understands them all. More over, he watches our thoughts, words and actions. This gives us confidence that he is indeed God the owner of all flesh.
This omnipresent nature of God is possible because we are all carries of God. His spirit is the source of our lives. Hence, He is part and parcel of our being so we cannot escape his presence. His spirit gives us life. So long as we are alive, his spirit is with us. When we die, this spirit returns to God, while the flesh is laid in the grave.
Therefore, when we are being unjustly treated this song should give us the courage that God knows the truth about us even more than we can possibly defend ourselves. When we are being wrongly accused, we do not need to fret because God knows that we are telling the truth.
Likewise, the one who is living a wicked and false life should fear, For God also sees his wicked acts and will rightly execute judgement. Verses 7-12 are very explicit on this. We cannot run faster than our shadows. Even the darkness is as bright as the noon day to Him. Hence, instead of trying to hide, let us come clean before God. Confess our sins to him and accept his mercy and grace which he freely bestows.
PRAYER: All knowing God, the fact that you know everything about us can be unsettling when we have something to hide. Grant us grace to know that you are simply watching over us like a loving father; not to harm but to protect us. Help us to come clean before your throne of grace any time we fall short so to obtain mercy which you freely bestow, through Christ Jesus, Amen.
