The certainty of God’s promises stands as firm as the firmament. Therefore, having none greater than himself, he vows by himself to fulfil everything he promises. God is faithful and whatever He promises He will see to it that it does not fail, vs 10. Hence, this should be a confident assurance to us, so that we won’t become weary and give up on our faith. We must not give up doing good deeds. We must continue to the very end to get our just reward. It is not worth it, if we get tired and stop doing good halfway, the good we have done before would be a waste; Ezekiel 18:24-26.
In addition, Vs 12-13 highlights the virtues we need as we await the fulfillment of both His physical and spiritual promises. We need diligence, patience and faith as seen in father Abraham. Not all promises are in the now, we may have to wait for some time. Therefore we’ll need to add patience to our faith as we wait for the fulfillment of His promises. For God, one thing is sure He watches over His words to perform them. He is not a man that he can lie; vs 16-18 Numbers 23:9. We can hold Him on His promises, especially His promise of eternal life. We must not be deceived that the promise of eternity with Him is a farce, as some believe.
“We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into the inner place behind the curtain,”
What a firm and secure anchor for the soul amidst the storms of life! Such is the hope we have in Christ. This hope is sealed in heaven by the entrance of Jesus, our high priest into the inner sanctuary behind the veil in heaven.Since this hope is made in heaven, no earthly sorrow can overwhelm it. Hence, it becomes an anchor for the soul (our emotions, mind and will). Every earthly argument bows to this hope. Little wonder men who feed on this hope have great peace, and nothing shall offend them (Psalm 119:165).
Prayer: Thank You Jesus, for hiding our hope in the innermost presence of the Father. Father, we refuse to find hope in what we see but in what You say in Jesus name.
